OSA commit to long term partnership

OSA have been a proud partner of Ronald McDonald House GWS for almost 2 years and have just resigned, committing to a long-term partnership.

OSA Director, Fraser Thomson describes “as a father of 2 children under the age of 9, it is great to be involved with such an amazing charity, that provides guests with a homely place to stay, where staff and guests provide moral and emotional support to one another, to assist getting them through their child’s illness.

When doing the house tour and meeting children and families it provided me with great insight into what the families are experiencing and going through and provided a reality check as to how fortunate we are, why it is so important to support great charities like RMHC GWS and it was never a question as to OSA becoming a partner.

Office Supplies Australia and Ronald McDonald House are like minded organisations that are committed to the health and wellbeing of seriously ill children and their families.

When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, it can be a traumatic time in a family’s life. Keeping families close through such disruption and stress is at the heart of Ronald McDonald House Charities’ mission.

To support seriously ill children and their families, the Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney Chapter operates three core programs:

Ronald McDonald House Westmead

A home away from home where families can stay together when their child is seriously ill or injured.

Ronald McDonald House Westmead (RMHW) was established in 1986 and has since provided a ‘home away from home’ for almost 12,000 families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The House has grown from 18 rooms and 5 units in 2017, to a new, purpose built 60-room House in 2018 to cater for families both large and small.

Ronald McDonald House family Room Nepean

A place for families to rest and regroup in Nepean Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The NSW Ronald McDonald Learning Program

Helping children catch up on their education following lengthy hospital stays and absence from school.

Ronald McDonald Education Services is a national program offered by Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Within our Chapter, the program offers tuition and support to school age children recovering from serious illness once they have returned home and back to school, professional development for teachers supporting a child’s return to the classroom following illness, and a dedicated Learning Centre within the new House to provide homework assistance, school holiday programs and activities for children of all ages.

Our Chapter relies heavily on corporate and community support to operate and provide accommodation and services for seriously ill children and their families, 365 days of the year.

This includes partners who support our Meals from the Heart, Working Bee and Pick up the Tab programs, provide financial and in-kind donations, and organise third party fundraisers.
