HP acquires Samsung’s printer business, expands partner opportunities

August 29, 2016 Business, Printing

Partners,
I want to share our exciting news: Early this morning HP announced an agreement to acquire Samsung’s printing business. And a few hours from now, we will be launching 16 next-generation PageWide and LaserJet A3 multifunction printers, along with new services.

The importance of our partner relationships is underscored in each of today’s announcements: the biggest print acquisition not just in the brief span of HP Inc., but also in the storied history of Hewlett-Packard; and the signal of our bold attack on the copier space with a full lineup of advanced A3 multifunction printers.

Together these actions accelerate all of the strategic initiatives we announced less than a year ago after completion of the separation of Hewlett-Packard Company. They strengthen our core A4 products, they hasten our plan to disrupt the $55 billion A3 copier segment with superior printing technology, and they give us a powerful platform of technologies and tools for future innovation. They strengthen HP’s ability to serve customers as the leader in the worldwide printing industry, prove our firm resolve to capture more pages in A3, and demonstrate our commitment to create profitable growth opportunities for our channel partners.

HP is a smaller, more agile, more tightly focused company, a global leader with the muscle and brains of a Fortune 100 company and the heart and energy of a startup. We promised you that we’re going to take swift, bold actions to seize opportunities and win in every market and every segment where we can deliver profitable growth for us and for our partners. That’s exactly what you’re seeing today.

The acquisition of Samsung’s printer business has built-in momentum. For the past year we have been working closely with Samsung’s printer business to develop the A3 multifunction laser printers that we’re announcing today – so closely and successfully, in fact, that both companies recognized a complementary long-term fit.

With today’s product launches and the agreement to buy Samsung’s printer business, we are building the industry’s most complete and most secure A3 and A4 product portfolio, giving partners a full range of speed, price, finishing, and performance options. But we’re not just giving you more printers to sell; we’re creating the best all-around, end-to-end value proposition, including the industry’s best customer service experience.

We’re also creating exciting new opportunities for some of you in managed services. Customers are discovering that they can save money, predictably manage costs, increase flexibility, and reduce overhead through contractual services managed by trusted partners. It’s a rapidly growing area.

Transactional products from Samsung’s printer business will be fully integrated into our print portfolio and will be accessible to all of our Partner First partners. Contractual products from Samsung’s printer business will be accessible to select partners to complement the full portfolio already based on Samsung technology. We are announcing our new service-led business model for our A3 lineup today.

For more than three decades HP and Canon have had a highly valued, mutually beneficial relationship. Today’s agreement with Samsung will provide exciting new opportunities to strengthen this relationship with Canon, and we are confident that our partnership will continue stronger than ever. It’s a win-win-win scenario.

HP Launches Solutions to Make Business Printing More Mobile, Secure and Productive

August 22, 2016 Printing

HP announced new mobile and business intelligence software to help business IT managers make their print environment more mobile, secure and productive.

New offerings include:

•    Mobile print software that makes printing from mobile devices to printers on a corporate network easy and accessible
•    New business intelligence tools that help IT understand and optimize their printer fleets for better performance

“Our customers need print infrastructure that gets their employees working even more efficiently,” said Edmund Wingate, head of JetAdvantage Solutions, HP Inc. “Today HP is delivering new tools for IT managers to improve mobility, management and security so that printing is fast, reliable and sure to boost productivity.”

Enhanced Printing from Mobile Devices

HP JetAdvantage Connect enables mobile devices to print to printers on the corporate network with a simple, intuitive PC-like print experience, without extra steps like opening a print app or sending an email to the print queue. It is also easier and less expensive for IT to deploy as print job rendering takes place on the mobile device, eliminating the need for a dedicated server, and IT can leverage the same tools used to configure and manage PC-based print infrastructure. Currently HP JetAdvantage Connect supports Android with iOS device support coming later in June. Support for other mobile platforms will be added in the future.

Greater Security for Printing from Mobile Devices

•    HP Access Control Secure Pull Print makes the print authentication capabilities of HP Access Control available as a stand-alone offering at a lower cost. With this solution, IT can provide the same monitoring and protection features for print jobs coming from mobile devices as they do for print jobs coming from PCs.
•    HP Access Control 15.2 has been updated with support for the latest security protocols and the ability to use pull printing across IT environments with multiple domains.

Better IT Print Management for Chromebooks

The HP Print for ChromeTM App, which enables local printing for Chromebooks has been updated to support use with the GoogleTM admin console. This update gives IT a streamlined way to deploy and manage the app across large fleets of Chromebooks.

Greater Productivity with Business Intelligence Solutions

For HP Managed Print Services customers, HP is introducing a set of business intelligence tools to give customers a transparent view of their printer fleet, along with predictive modeling to help prevent potential problems before they occur. These tools empower customers to make informed decisions, in partnership with HP, to ensure that their printer fleet is optimized for productivity, security and cost effectiveness.

•    HP Device Control Center offers interactive fleet management with real time device status and location information.
•    HP Instant Fleet Insights delivers enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities, leveraging device data such as service history, firmware versions, fleet composition, and device usage.

These tools are available to all HP direct Managed Print Services customers at no additional cost.

HP JetAdvantage Insights is an easy-to-deploy cloud management tool that provides access to printer fleet data for customers with self-managed or partner-managed print environments, enabling them to maintain their printer fleets with greater efficiency.

Scanner Puts Organizations on the Fast Track for Digital Success

Quick and Well-Rounded Scanner That Puts Organizations on the Fast Track for Digital Success

The digital universe is doubling in size every two years, according to a report from IDC1. As a result, organizations today are tasked with finding ways to manage and unlock valuable information from both paper and digital documents. To help businesses address this challenge, Xerox introduced the DocuMate® 6440 one of the fastest and most user-friendly scanners in its class. With integrated image enhancing software, the small scanner can scan up to one page per second to one of nine preset, configurable destinations—all without losing quality.
The new DocuMate 6440 is packed with features that improve efficiency and change how organizations analyze and manage business-critical information.”

Automated Workflow with One Easy Touch
The DocuMate 6440 is powered by Visioneer OneTouch® technology to scan documents instantly to virtually any application, folder or device at the touch of a button. Working together with Acuity image enhancing software, the device automatically enhances and corrects images so that every document is perfectly scanned in a searchable PDF that can be routed to email or a custom enterprise web application. In the healthcare industry, for example, the provider can quickly scan patient documents and have them automatically routed to the pharmacy or billing department to improve productivity and efficiency—for both the provider and the patient.

Plastic ID and insurance cards, as well as paper documents, can be quickly scanned through the automatic document feeder, which holds up to 80 pages. Thirty-three percent faster than its predecessor, the DocuMate 6440 scans up to 60 double-sided color pages per minute.

Its versatility, combined with advanced paper handling technology, makes the DocuMate 6440 an ideal solution for healthcare, banking, education, energy, financial, government, and manufacturing industries.
